Crestwood Public Library District - 2027 Consolidated Election
The Crestwood Public Library District announces three openings on its Board of Trustees for the April 6, 2027, Consolidated Election.
Trustee Positions
- Number of seats: 3
- Term: 6 years each
- Term ending: 2031
- Election date: Tuesday, April 6, 2027
Important Dates
- August 25, 2026: First day to circulate nomination petitions
- November 16, 2026, at 9:00 a.m.: Filing period begins
- November 23, 2026, at 4:00 p.m.: Filing period ends
- November 25, 2026, at 4:00 p.m.: Lottery for ballot placement, if necessary
- April 6, 2027: Consolidated Election
Candidate Eligibility
At the time of filing, candidates must:
- Be a registered voter.
- Reside within the boundaries of the Crestwood Public Library District.
- Not be in arrears on any tax or other indebtedness owed to the Library District.
- Not have been convicted of an infamous crime, bribery, perjury, or other felony.
Filing Requirements
Candidates must submit their completed nomination materials in person or by mail, in accordance with the filing instructions. Electronic submissions will not be accepted.
The filing office will be open Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. during the filing period.
Candidates should ensure that all required documents are properly completed, signed, and notarized before filing.
Petition Packet Includes
- Statement of Candidacy — must be notarized; do not sign until in the presence of a notary.
- Petition Forms (5) — all forms must be notarized.
- Loyalty Oath — optional; must be notarized if submitted.
- Code of Fair Campaign Practices — optional; filed with the Cook County Clerk.
Additional Required Document
The following is not included in the petition packet but is required for a complete filing:
- Receipt for the filing of a Statement of Economic Interests
- The Statement of Economic Interests must be filed with the Cook County Clerk's Office.
- The Clerk's Office should provide a receipt.
- The receipt must be included with the materials submitted to the Library District.
Petition Signatures
- Nomination petitions may not be circulated before August 25, 2026.
- Candidates must obtain a minimum of 50 signatures from eligible registered voters to qualify for placement on the ballot.

Prospective candidates should verify all election and filing requirements by consulting the 2027 Candidate's Guide issued by the Illinois State Board of Elections, contacting the State Board of Elections, or consulting competent legal counsel. Signature requirements should also be independently verified.
