More Information on COVID 19

We want to make sure our patrons are staying informed during this uncertain time. Here you'll find some Frequently Ask Questions, as well as some helpful tips from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Frequently Asked Questions

  • When will you re-open?
At this time, we are following state and local guidelines for our temporary closure. Because this information changes frequently, we do not have an exact date on when we will re-open. At this time, we will be closed through May 2020.

  • Will you be offering curbside service?
Yes! Please check out our Curbside Pickup page for details on how this service will work.

  • Should I return my library materials now?
Our bookdrop (located on the west side of the building) is open for your returns!

  • Am I accruing fines on my library materials at this time?
No. Library items checked out before our closure have had extended due dates automatically applied.

  • I have book donations. Can I drop them off?
Unfortunately at this time, we are not receiving donated materials. Please hold on to these items until we reopen.

  • Can I still place holds online in my SWAN account?
At this time, you can place holds in the online catalog for Crestwood Public Library materials only. These holds will be filled for our Curbside Pickup service.

  • Can I access your online resources?
All online resources are available for our patrons. Some databases may require the use of a Crestwood Public Library card for access. Furthermore, you can visit Media On Demand, eRead Illinois, and RB Digital for your ebook, digital audiobook, and emagazine needs. You can also download the SWAN Library App for your mobile devices. We're adding more resources as they become available. Please visit the e-Media Resources page for a compiled list.

  • I don't have a library card. Can I still get one?
Yes! You can sign up for a temporary digital library card in order to gain access to our digital collection. You'll be encouraged to eventually come in to receive a physical library card from library staff. You can click here to being the online registration process.

  • I don't know my PIN to login for e-books. How do I reset this?
Not to worry! You can reset your PIN by visiting the SWAN catalog, clicking on My Account, and selecting Forgot My PIN.

  • Help! The sticker on the back of my library card says it's expired!
Don't panic - your library card expiration date has temporarily been extended to August, 2020. When we re-open, visit us with your card, and two pieces of identification with your current address.

  • Can I still use your wireless printing service?
No. While the library is closed, this service is temporarily suspended.

  • Will you be rescheduling your library programs?
We will do our best to reschedule programs that needed to be canceled for future dates. With ever changing guidelines for public events, we will be taking those guidelines under consideration as we plan for future programs. Some of these programs may be shifted to a virtual setting. Please check back with us for more updates.
