Curbside Pickup

Starting Monday, June 1st, curbside pickup is available for Crestwood Public Library items.

How does curbside pickup work?

  • To request the titles/items you would like to pickup, simply call (708) 371-4090, or place a hold in the online catalog. Please leave us a voicemail if your call is placed after we close.

  • We will call you when your items are ready for pickup and to arrange a pickup time.

  • When you arrive to pick up your items, please give us a call, or text us when you are in the parking lot.

  • Once we know you are here, we will place your bagged items on a table in our vestibule, clearly marked with your name. We will then open the door for you to take your items from the holds table. If you would prefer that we place the items directly in your trunk, please let us know on your arrival.

  • All of the items will already be checked out with due date cards. Additionally, you will have a printed receipt with the due dates.

Frequently Asked Questions

When is curbside pickup available?
Curbside pickup is available 10 am – 3 pm, Monday through Saturday.

When can I pick up my items?
One of our staff members will contact you when your items are ready. Curbside pickup service will be available Monday through Saturday from 10am-3pm.

May I bring returns to curbside pickup?
We are not accepting returns via our curbside service. However, you may return items in our outdoor book drop, located on the west side of the building.

I returned your items in your book drop - why are they still showing up on my account?
When our library items are returned, we will be keeping them quarantined for 3 days. After the 3 day period is over, they will be checked in on our system. You will not be charged any potential late fees during that time.

Can I check to see if you have additional items available when I arrive for my pickup?
We will not check for additional items at curbside. If you have additional items you’d like to request, please call us prior to your arrival.

Can I donate items at curbside/in the book drop?
Thank you for thinking of us, but the library is not accepting donations at this time.

How are you keeping items safe/disinfecting items?
According to the CDC and the NEDCC (Northeast Document Conservation Center), the COVID-19 virus will persist on cardboard materials for a period of 24 hours, and on plastic surfaces for 72 hours. Therefore, we will be quarantining returned materials for a period of 3 days. We will review the quarantine period as we move forward.

Can someone else pick up my items?
Yes, please tell whomever is picking up your items to give us your name when they arrive for pickup.

Can I place holds through the catalog?
Currently, all online holds are limited only to what is available in the Crestwood Public Library collection. At this time, we are not able to receive borrowing requests for materials at other libraries.

What if I want an item that is available at another library?
Unfortunately, you will not be able to place a hold for this item through the online catalog, nor can we call the library for you to hold that item. However, you are welcome to contact the owning library yourself to see if they would be willing to check out the item to you through their own curbside pickup.

Why don’t you have any new books or movies?
We slowed our ordering processes when the stay at home order was put in place.  We will do our best to order and process new materials as quickly as we can!
